How to Build The Perfect Work Travel Uniform

I am a huge fan of uniform dressing and sticking to what I know works, especially when it comes to traveling. My basic travel uniform revolves around these pieces: comfortable denim, a lightweight layer, and a structured bag. Depending on what I’m traveling for, I get more specific. For example, I’ve been traveling for work lately (SF, LA and Dallas!), and I always make sure to wear an outfit that works well for meetings as soon as I land. Read on below for more details!

When I travel for work, it’s always a flurry of meetings packed into a couple of days so I can get back home to my boys as soon as possible, which means more than likely I’m heading straight from the airport to meet with someone. I still opt for comfortable denim, but I dress up my typical travel uniform with a relaxed blazer and pair of heels that are comfortable enough to walk through the airport in. An alternative option if you’re not feeling heels for traveling (I get it!) is to slip a pair into your carry-on and do a quick change when you land. For my personal carry-on item, I opt for a structured bag that is large enough to hold my laptop so that I can take advantage of the plane’s WiFi (and kid free zone). As we mentioned in our recent packing hacks article, I exclusively travel with carry-on luggage so that I can immediately deplane and head out the door.

Do you have a go-to travel uniform? I would love to hear about it in the comments below!
